LWRF Secondary Treatment Phase
The secondary treatment units consist of a tank (B)
within a larger tank (A) as is better seen in the cutaway
view, (C) Mixed wastewater is pumped from the headworks to
the biological decomposition area in the outer ring (D).
After appropriate decomposition, the water goes into the clarifier settling area
(E) where sludge settles to the bottom. A scraper and pumping
action moves it (F) to the sludge storage tank.
(G) The clarified water is pumped to the effluent filters.
