LWRF Process
The LWRF provides tertiary, or three-step treatment, for Laie's wastewater. As indicated above: (A) Wastewater flows from the pump stations to the Headworks, then to the Secondary treatment works (B), and finally through effluent filters and ultraviolet light disinfection (C). The reclaimed water can be recycled for agricultural purposes. The resulting sludge is mixed with green waste and recycled as compost (D).
